When I created the Cake Maternity brand I was very conscious about the message I wanted to send.  I wanted to create a brand that empowered women and gave them their femininity back.

As a mother it is very easy to get caught up in the day-to-day chaos and we forget to take care of ourselves.

Beautiful maternity/nursing lingerie is one way we can indulge ourselves.  Good fitted, comfortable lingerie can change they way we look and feel.  It can provide woman with newfound confidence and put a spring in her step.

Read below for other helpful tips on how you can get your mojo back.

1. Learn to take time out

Take a break when you are feeling overwhelmed and or exhausted.  Remove yourself from the chaos and take the time to meditate or take long, slow, deep breaths.  This is the perfect way to re-center, establish calm and to help put things into perspective.

You will feel better about yourself and will be less likely to say things you regret in the heat of the moment.

2. Learn to love your body

Look at yourself in the mirror each morning and tell yourself you look amazing! You look beautiful! Remind yourself that you have given birth and that your body is a part of life’s journey and it should be celebrated.

Fall in love with your body all over again.

3. Treat yourself

As a rule it is a good idea to eat healthy.  Good nutritious food will help to fuel your body and will give you the much-needed energy to get through your day.

However, in saying this it is also important to indulge every once in a while.  Treat yourself to a piece of cake or an ice cream.  A delicious treat will bring a smile to your face and a warm fuzzy feeling.

4. Take time out for you

Spend quality time with yourself.  Reading a book, going for a walk, going for a run, having a hot bath or a swim and all great activities that can be enjoyed on your own.

Don’t be afraid to be by yourself.  It is a fantastic way to reflect and think about your day.

5. Do the things you love

Remember to take time out for yourself once in a while.  Do the things that make you feel happy.

A happy fulfilled mum will raise a happy family.

6. Take care of yourself

Take time in the morning to get ready.  Shower; do your make up, do your hair and dress for success.  When you look good you feel good.

7. Set goals

Set yourself challenges and give yourself a purpose everyday.

8. Love your partner

Set date nights with your husband or partner at least once a month and do this religiously.  Get your glad rags on and make an effort for each other.

Keep your relationships strong and remind the people you care about that you love them.

Motherhood is simply another stage in our lives.  Being a mother does not mean we have to give up being us.  Motherhood is an extension of who we are.

Take pride in yourself and keep true to whom you are.  Life should be enjoyed and our journey’s celebrated.
